Celosia Seeds – Pink mix

$2.00

Open pollinated seeds

When to plant: Spring through early summer, once all frost risk has passed. In Central Victoria, sow from October onwards. Celosia loves warmth – in cool climates it’s worth waiting until early summer rather than rushing it, as cold soil will slow or stall germination.

Germination: 10-14 days at 21-27°C. Celosia seeds need light to germinate – sow directly onto the surface of moist seed-raising mix and press in gently. Do not cover. Bottom water or mist to avoid washing the tiny seeds away.

Description

Position: Full sun (minimum 6 hours daily)

Plant height: Varies by variety — typically 30cm to 1m

Spacing: 20–30cm apart

Days to bloom: 80-120 days from sowing

Sowing method: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before planting out, or direct sow once soil has warmed. Transplant once seedlings have 2-3 sets of true leaves, hardening off for 1-2 weeks before planting out.

Good to know: Pinching seedlings when 15-20cm tall encourages branching and more stems. An excellent cut flower both fresh and dried – harvest when flowers are fully developed and hang upside down in a cool, well-ventilated spot to dry.
